Description
Marttiini Wild Boar Stainless, Waxed Curly Birch, outdoor knife
Full description
The Marttiini Wild Boar 546013W is a traditional Finnish Puukko based on the Marttinni Lynx. This type of knife was used in Finland as a basic knife for everyday cutting tasks such as hunting, fishing or tasks around the house. The inspiration for this knife was therefore drawn from the almost 100 years of history and experience in knife making that the Finnish brand Marttiini acquired over the years. The knife is made from natural materials. Wood for the handle and leather for the sheath.
The knife features a scandi grind. The scandi grind, as the name suggests, originates from Scandinavia. The scandi grind has been the standard for ages when it comes to outdoor knives, hunting knives and bushcraft knives. In fact, a large v-shaped edge, without any further frills. A scandi grind is easy to manufacture and easy to sharpen at home. A scandi grind is great for wood work. Because the blade is relatively thick, it is very strong and can handle quite a lot. At the end of the handle, this knife has a characteristic pommel shaped like the head of a wild boar made of bronze.
Handle made of curly birch
The handle of this knife is made from curly birch. It’s also known as warty birch. This is a natural material, meaning that both the colour and the patterns in the birch wood will be unique to each knife. For this version, the handle is coated with a natural wax that beautifully brings out the darker colours of the wood.
Stainless steel blade
The blade is made of stainless 1.4034 / X46Cr13 steel. This is a type of steel that retains its sharpness well and offers good corrosion resistance. It has a hardness of 53 to 55 HRC.
Leather sheath
The Marttiini Wild Boar comes with a leather sheath. The sheath is black and has a distinct shape. It also shows an image of the head of a wild boar. The sheath has a leather loop that allows you to attach it to a sheath, for example.
